We sometimes fill our Yeti with hot water, lemon wedges, and honey. It's refreshing, easy to digest, and more comfortable than sipping ice-cold water on an already freezing day.
You'll have to adjust based on size of Thermos/taste buds, but I do a heaping teaspoon of miso paste (I like the lower salt stuff), about 100 ml veggie broth, about 400 ml boiling water, dash of soy sauce, and sprinkle of dehydrated green onions. Yum!
In a trip report that she wrote, then 8-year-old daughter wrote, "We had brie for our snack, and it wasn't frozen because daddy kept it in his pocket." Which illustrates both "backcountry fancy", and snacking on the go.
short bread cookies. I would eat them frozen out of the freezer right by my bedroom door. Shhh don't tell granny about that.

The miso soup idea is great! Could you share your recipe?
